Seeking a VB.NET Desktop Application Developer
QuoteReply

A good candidate will be able to create professional looking fully managed multi tiered VB.NET DESKTOP applications designed to facilitate users access to backend data or to create data for other processes.  Know how to handle record locking situations where multiple users are sharing the same data using a disconnected data model.  Middle tier technology includes .NET Remoting but we are moving to WCF.  Knowledge of ADO.NET and SQL Server is necessary (of course) and knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL is a plus.  Active Directory and encryption technologies are also desirable but rudimentary knowledge will suffice.  There may be some web development but that is not a requirement.  Above all somebody who can finish the job and deliver to QA is highly desireable.  A lot of programmers seem to be able to get to that 95% mark but struggle with the last 5%...

Other job duties include more of a Business Analyst type of mentality where the candidate will help clients work through technical problems when a programmer’s talent is required.  Sometimes it is just writing a little SQL and producing ad hoc data in excel and sometimes it is installing and configuring third party software to interface with our systems which might require a daemon process or ?  In either case the candidate will need to have excellent communication and written skills as well as be able to hold meetings and give presentations.  Be prepared to write requirements as well as documentation on anything you work on.  An ideal candidate will be self motivating and require little management and be able to work in a team as well as solo.

You will work on many different things, not just programming, in a relaxed environment.  Your good attitude and cheerfulness will take you far with our clients.  Here is where a little solid knowledge of VB.NET with a lot of confidence will get you through.  And all those papers you wrote in college will have prepared you to create great documentation and requirements.  Your easy going personal skills and good communication habits will also make you a perfect fit.  Are you this person?

Please send resume with introduction letter in word format to xs11@cox.net with RESUME in the subject.

Thanks for your time in advance
